Here are more "Cave / Homes" carved into the rocks.

-----

One of the larger "caves" had only a small entrance - we had to duck down and climb some stairs down, it went deeper into the hill, so that it would remain cooler. This was their "refrigerator" for meat and vegetables. This was the largest "Cave" we saw, and you can only see about one-third of it. Steps lead down to a lower level - it's like another shelf in your fridge :-)

-----

We head back down now, passing a large underground cistern that has water in it. The water drains off the rocks into the cistern - it's not a well where the water seeps in from underground.

Also, on the way up the mountain, we saw a monastery carved into the rocks - we take a bit more time to look at the monastery on the way down. The monastery is only a few hundred feet up the mountainside.

This monastery is still in use, there were monks tending things around the buildings. There are rooms carved into the rocks here.

These stairs are carved into the mountain rock.
