Steve and Marina Capps - Wedding & Honeymoon
Las Vegas - Sept. 11 to Sept. 16 2002
Day 1 -- Day 2 -- Day 3 -- Day 4 -- Day 5

Greetings from Marina and Steve Capps.

Laura, my sister, said Las Vegas would be a great place for our honeymoon. So I asked Marina, and she said "You have read my mind! I always dreamed of a honeymoon in Las Vegas!"

So, we talked about it some more, and finally we decided to get married and also to have our honeymoon in Las Vegas. We looked at some travel guides to Las Vegas and on the Internet, and found the "Little White Chapel". It's very famous -- here are some of the people who have been married here -- Joan Collins, Judy Garland, Demi Moore, Bruce Willis, and Frank Sinatra. I call and plan a nice wedding. Also, I make reservations to the show "Cirque de Soleil" - an unusual circus that is supposed to be one of the best shows in Vegas.

We need to leave at about 5 a.m. to get to the airport on time. We almost oversleep, but no problem, we just hurry a bit and we get everything done on time. Here's Luke as we say good-bye.

I turn off the circuit breakers to the oven/stove, so the cats can't accidentally bump the buttons and turn it on. Also, without realizing it, I turn off the power to the refrigerator - but hey, we were in a hurry, like I said. So it was stinky when we came back, but not too bad. It cleaned up pretty easy.

Here we are on Sept. 9, 2003 (the anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attack) at the Knoxville airport. Dad meets us there and takes our picture, and sees us off. He gives us lots of candy to eat on the airplane, too :-)

-----

We get on the plane in Knoxville, and just before we are about to pull out to the runway, they make an announcement over the PA that the flight is canceled because the Stewardess is sick. We see her run to the bathroom right then. So, we all "de-plane" and wait in line again, trying to get seats on another plane. After about an hour, they find another stewardess and we all get back on the plane again, and depart. But now our schedule is very, very tight. We realize when we land in Cincinnati, we will have to run to the next gate. We get off in Cincinnati, and take a bus/tram to the gate - we are lucky, the bus takes us to a gate right by the gate we need to be at. So we run, and when we make it to the ticket desk, the very last passengers are just boarding the plane - there are only about 10 people left in line. We make it with about 3 minutes to spare!
